Crystal Westcott, of West Haven, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Sunday after police responded to a home on a possible domestic violence call, said the Milford Police.
When police arrived on the scene the victim told officers that Westcott was throwing items inside the home and then bit and hit the man who was holding the infant child.
A further investigation found that the victim had an active order of protection against Westcott.
She was charged with assault, the risk of injury, disorderly conduct and violating a protective order.
Westcott was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
